Who qualifies for spinal cord stimulator surgery?

Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) is a life-changing option for patients who’ve tried other treatments but still experience chronic pain — especially nerve-related pain in the back, legs, or arms.

You may qualify for a spinal cord stimulator if you have:

• Chronic pain lasting 6 months or more, even after surgery or therapy
• Failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS)
• Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
• Peripheral neuropathy or nerve damage
• Severe pain that hasn’t improved with medications or injections

The process starts with a trial period, where the device is temporarily placed to test your pain relief. If you experience significant improvement — often 50% or more — you may move forward with the permanent implant.
