What is lateral knee replacement and who is a candidate?

Lateral knee replacement is a type of partial knee replacement that treats arthritis affecting only the outer (lateral) compartment of the knee. Instead of replacing the entire knee joint, only the damaged portion is resurfaced while preserving healthy bone, cartilage, and ligaments.

You may be a candidate if you:

• Have arthritis limited to the outer side of the knee
• Experience pain primarily on the outside of your knee
• Have healthy ligaments, including the ACL
• Maintain good knee stability and range of motion
• Have not found lasting relief with treatments like physical therapy, medications, or injections
