Lumbar Spondylosis

Lumbar spondylosis encompasses the degenerative diseases and conditions that affect the lower back, or lumbar region, of the spine. Spinal osteoarthritis, facet syndrome, degenerative disc disease and other types of damage to the lumbar spine can cause pain, weakness and numbness. Our pain experts at Medici Orthopaedics & Spine will help diagnose and treat lumbar spondylosis to give patients relief from chronic pain and improve their quality of life.

Wear and tear on discs and vertebrae can lead to damage, inflammation and reduced performance, all indicative of lumbar spondylosis. The lower back, or lumbar region, is especially susceptible to damage with age. This is due to the pressure and strain at the lowest level of the spine. Lumbar spondylosis can include spinal discs that are herniated or bulging due to deterioration. This can reduce the cushion between vertebrae, increase the chance of bone spurs and put other stress on the spine, causing pain and mobility problems.

Treating Degenerative Lower Back Pain

Most people over the age of 40 have some level of degenerative disease in their spine. It may be spinal osteoporosis, degenerative disc disease or other issues that may or may not display symptoms. For those who do have lower back pain from degenerative disease or lumbar spondylosis, there are treatment solutions.

Medici Orthopaedics & Spine uses a multidisciplinary approach to address deterioration issues in the lumbar spine to reduce pain and other symptoms. We focus on conservative and minimally-invasive treatments that are effective for improving health and minimizing pain. This can include spinal cord stimulation, injection therapy and endoscopic surgery. Each treatment plan is customized to the patient’s specific concerns and health.

If you suffer from lower back pain, lumbar spondylosis is one possible cause of your symptoms. Contact Medici Orthopaedics & Spine today to schedule an appointment at one of our clinics in the Atlanta area for a diagnostic consultation.

What our patients say

Kevin Madden

Love Dr. Sonny and his practice. I appreciate the time he takes with me. I would rather him run late and take his time with me than rush me through. Pain is not something that’s a pleasure to deal with. I appreciate his knowledge and compassion. The surgical center is great too. Their staff is so caring! Thank you Dr. Sonny!

Dr. Sonny and his staff are incredibly compassionate. They offer solutions that promote healing and support a healthy lifestyle. I trust them because I see the results in my life but mostly because they care. They know me by name. I cannot recommend this practice enough.
